Equipment: Stick With What You Like!

We at PlayYourGame.com are excited to bring to you this article, because we are constantly receiving questions concerning equipment. The bulk of the questions are always focused on trying new gear. What is the best? What should I try? All are excellent questions so we thought we'd try to give you some experience driven advice. The advice? Stick with what you like!!!!

As players, we are constantly bombarded year after year with a seemingly endless supply of new products. From skates through to sticks, there is always something bigger and better that seems to be hitting the marketplace. The question is, what should we try and why? We are strong advocates of trying new things, being open to change and to exploring what is available to you. But here's the thing, when you've found a piece of equipment, be it a skate, a glove, or even a stick that you feel comfortable with and that really suits you as an individual, don't always feel the urge to change. As younger players, we are constantly trying to keep up with our friends and with the products that are constantly being made available to us. As you get older, you begin to realize that once you've found something that makes you happy and puts you at ease when you play, it's generally a good idea to stick with it.

The purpose of this article to is to basically inform our younger users that its o.k. to use the same model and make of skates next season. It's all right to have the same pair of gloves for a few years. As an example, I had a pair of Mission gloves that I wore for the bulk of my professional hockey career. Not because they were the best gloves available, but because they were the best for me specifically, and they allowed me to feel comfortable when I played. By all means, we at PlayYourGame.com encourage you to try new things, but try to remember, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
