NCAA Div. I without a doubt is the prize of University Hockey. For players who aim to play hockey while attending school there is no doubt in any players mind that U.S. Div. I is the place to be. All the way from fan support to the facilities, NCAA Div. I is a class act.
The NCAA Div. I has strict rules governing player eligibility so within the league you will find ex Jr. A, Jr. B, High School and Prep school players. Major Jr. Players are deemed ineligible to compete in the NCAA program. The talent level within the Division I program is exceptional.
Players will find the hockey to be considerably faster compared to what they've been playing in the past. The speed & strength of the players will force all rookies to adapt or they will find themselves relegated to being a practice player and press box spectator. For these players, it is the ideal chance for them to work on their skills and to learn as much as they can from the veteran players and the coaching staff.
For most players, making the transition to having to worry about tests and other school related projects while maintaining their focus on hockey will be their biggest challenge. Graduating NCAA Div. I players will have the opportunity to take their game to the professional level if they choose to do so. Professional being that of the Central Hockey League all the way to the NHL. This jump, once again, will be the choice of each player depending on where they want to take their careers if in fact they want to take them anywhere.
Four years at a NCAA Division I school will be for most players an unbelievable experience. The memories that will be made will last a lifetime. The experience of playing with fellow top caliber players will aid in the development of each individual player. For those who choose to move on in hockey, their Div. I experience will be invaluable not to mention most players will be University Graduates which in the big picture is priceless.
