WHL Bantam Draft

As young players and the parents of those players, we at DavidSport feel that it is important that you are fully aware of the bantam draft and what it entails. To quickly sum up the bantam draft, it is best characterized as "the orderly transfer of bantam aged players (14-15 year olds) to WHL Protected Player Lists".
The bantam draft is typically held in late April and it allows WHL teams to draft players from the four western provinces as well from the states of Oregon and Washington. We encourage you to learn more about the bantam draft and the protected player list from the WHL site.
DavidSport would like to stress to all of you players who may have been past over in the draft or are not protected by a WHL team. Do not get discouraged. You have a ton of time to develop your skills, so for whatever reason that you were not taken, don't let it worry you. What you will come to realize is that at the age of 14 or 15 you are still young, and during these years, you will be developing physically and at the same time your skills will be improving. You don't have to be drafted to be successful in hockey so keep that in mind when it's your draft year. You have time, so believe in yourself and your abilities and you can achieve whatever it is that you want to.

If you have any questions, be sure to Ask the Vet.
