Being Drafted

This is what most of us have been dreaming of and working for since we first laced up the skates. If draft day comes for you, it will probably be one of the most exciting days in your life. If it doesn't happen, which is a reality for many, it can be very disappointing and disheartening. What we have to realize is that it isn't the end of the world. Keep in mind, we're not trying to kid anyone. If we all had a choice, we'd be first round picks.
The potential draftee can expect to experience an array of activities. Prospect physical testing, interviews with team representatives and the list goes on and on. Enjoy every minute of it if it happens to you. Be yourself, and whatever happens, don't get discouraged if you don't go as high in the draft as you had hoped. The same goes for you players who don't go at all and knew you wouldn't from the beginning. To be drafted is an honor that players have worked extremely hard to achieve. Enjoy it, but remember that the battle to place an NHL jersey over your head has just begun. Remember that and you'll be fine. Being drafted takes you one step closer to the show, but it doesn't guarantee you a part in it. If you have any questions with regards to your specific situation, be sure to Ask the Vet.
