The National Hockey League (NHL) as we all know is the best league in the world. It has the best players, the best coaches, and the best facilities. This is where we all hope & dream that, one-day, we can play. We grow up in awe of it. We grow up with the endless excitement of the possibility of achieving it. For many of us, we grow up wanting nothing else and knowing nothing else. The road is long and well traveled but most definitely worth it.
Players at the NHL level will have a wide variety of playing backgrounds and histories. Ex Major Jr., AHL, NCAA Div. 1, ECHL and more than ever European players. The point is that these players we watch on T.V. are the best players in the world and are pushed to perform daily because there are thousands of players waiting for the chance to take their place.
There are hundreds of thousands of players from all over the world that on a daily basis are working towards the dream of one-day playing in the NHL. The unfortunate reality is that the majority of us will not get there. All we can do as players is give everything we have day in and day out, we have to give that little extra that maybe others aren't giving. If we do this and we keep going until we, as players, are ready to stop, you can't go wrong, and you can never be sure of what can happen.
The NHL is the pinnacle of hockey. For all of you who put the hours on the ice, in the gym and on the track, we hope you continue to do so. We wish you luck on your journey.
