Personal Bio

From the age of two, my life has been surrounded by hockey. My Dad was a referee at the junior major level and coached it for many years. At 25 years old, hockey is now my current choice for a career. My name is Sandy Lamarre, and I am a native of Lasalle, Quebec. I am in my third year of playing professional hockey in the States.

I played most of my minor hockey in surrounding towns of Montreal. The minor hockey is very competitive in Montreal - known for the Canadiens. In minor hockey, I won various awards such as: top scorer, most valuable player, and numerous league championships. After my last year of minor hockey, I got a tryout for a junior tier-II team in Montreal. I made the team and played four years at the junior level. During those four years, I became a better player and enjoyed the hockey a great deal. I was named two times most valuable player and was nominated twice to appear in the all-star game.

After not receiving a hockey scholarship, I decided to give pro hockey a chance. A pro hockey scout who watched me over the years offered me a tryout in the Western Professional Hockey League with the El Paso Buzzards. This league was composed of twelve teams, playing 70 games, and all situated in the Southwest United States. My first year proved to be a productive one with my team winning the President's Cup and me being leading rookie scorer on the team. The following season brought about some injuries. I played in only half of the team's games but still had a point a game. I am currently playing for the Augusta Lynx who are part of the East Coast Hockey League. Our Team is affiliated with the New Jersey Devils and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.

I came to the East Coast Hockey League for exposure to the International Hockey League or American Hockey League. I intend to play a couple of more years of pro hockey before retiring. After all the years of hockey, I still enjoy getting up in the morning and heading to the rink to gear up to play.
