Introduction to the CCAA

The road to the Canadian Colleges is one that is traveled by many, and many of which who have vastly different playing histories. Canadian College hockey (CCAA) offers extremely competitive play at a very competitive level. The talent that one can expect to find in the league will be made up of ex-Major Junior, Jr. A., as well as Jr. B. The ages of the players will range from 19-25, and many of the players competing will be doing so in the hopes of taking their game to a higher level.
On the educational side, Canadian Colleges offer an alternative to attending university. With an emphasis on practical learning, the schools of the CCAA offer many strong degrees from agriculture to technology. As well, a key drawing point for Canadian College hockey is that players are not penalized for participating at the College level. What we mean by this is that players who compete in the CCAA have the ability to transfer to Canadian Universities to pursue additional studies and after doing so are still eligible to compete athletically without having to miss any games. Canadian College offers players the opportunity to test their skills by often playing exhibition games against CIS and European teams. Players can focus on their studies, still play competitively, and use the Canadian College route as a stepping stone to the CIS, as well as to the professional ranks. Whatever a player's goal may be, the Canadian College route is one that can help them to achieve it.
