We at PlayYourGame.com thought you might be interested to know about this open tryout. Although we don't know any more than the details provided below, it might be well worth your time to call and find out more.

The Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins and the Wheeling Nailers have planned a Professional Prospects Camp on July 26-28th in Mississauga, Ontario Canada.

Coaches and scouts from the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins and the Wheeling Nailers will be on hand to assess the skills of prospective professional hockey players at Iceland Arena. The three day camp will involve skills assessment and scrimmaging.

The camp will be run by Wilkes-Barre / Scranton head coach, Glen Patrick and Wheeling Nailers head coach, John Brophy. Patrick has been the head coach of the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins since the team?s inception three years ago, leading them to the Calder Cup Finals in only their second season. John Brophy will be entering his second season as head coach of the Wheeling Nailers in the East Coast Hockey League. Brophy is the former coach of the Hampton Roads Admirals (ECHL) and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brophy became only the second coach in hockey history to reach career victory number 1,000 this past season.

?This is a unique opportunity for us to find hockey talent in players who have not had an official invitation a professional hockey training camp, but still believe that they have the skills to play in the American Hockey League or the East Coast Hockey League,? stated Nailers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, John Brophy.

The minimum age requirement for the camp is 18 years old. The fee for hockey players to participate in the camp is $500 Canadian / $328 U.S. If the player receives an invitation to the Wheeling Nailers or Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Training Camp, the fee will be refunded. To reserve a spot in the prospects camp, contact the Wheeling Nailers at 304-234-4625 or toll free at 1-877-NAIL-TIX.
