For many of us, self-promotion is an aspect of our game that we do extremely poorly or for most, do not at all. From a very young age, we seem to believe that success within the hockey world will fall into our lap: the interest from Jr. teams, the scholarship offers, the pro tryouts. We believe that if it is meant to be it will simply come to us. We at PlayYourGame.com acknowledge that for some it may, but for others, statistics show that it just doesn't happen. Is that to say that we can't make it happen? Self-promotion isn't something to be embarrassed about, and the reality is that it is a part of life. Write letters, call teams, and send your resume to everyone that you want to have read it. Make the coaches and scouts aware of you and your location. Show them that you're motivated, and that you're willing to do the little extra that it takes to get noticed.
We're not guaranteeing that every team or coach that you try to contact will respond. What we will guarantee is that more teams and coaches will know who you are and where they can find you, and that, in itself, is the goal of self-promotion. You need to start to view yourself as the commodity that you are. If the teams and coaches don't know about you, how in the world can they take advantage of what you have to offer? PlayYourGame.com has everything you need to start promoting yourself. Contacts, resumes, and cover letters are a mouse click away. We urge you to take the step, or if you'd like, you can continue to wait for something to happen. Doesn't it make more sense to make it happen?

"Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle."

- Abraham Lincoln
